     Patrick Cox was born before 15 August 1832 at Cloonart North, Mohill, Co Longford, Ireland.^1,2,3,4
He was baptized at Mohill, at Co Leitrim, on 15 August 1832.⁴
Patrick Cox married Mary Diffley, daughter of Peter Diffley and Mary Murray, on 13 July 1870 at Knockadrinan, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland. The entry is very badly smudged but the witnesses may be Patrick Maxwell and Mary Casey.¹
Patrick Cox married Anne Beirne on 17 February 1874 at Knockadrinan, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland.⁵
He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census at Cloonart North, Mohill, Co Longford, Ireland. Also listed was his wife Anne Beirne. Also included: Son(s) Michael Cox, James Cox, Thomas Cox and Joseph Cox. Also included: Daughter(s) Mary Cox.³ Also present were two visitors, Thomas Beirne (12) and Patrick Beirne (10), both born Co Roscommon.⁶
He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census at Cloonart North, Mohill, Co Longford, Ireland. Also listed was his wife Anne Beirne. Also included: Son(s) Michael Cox. .
The census states that Patrick and Anne had 6 children in their marriage, one of whom had died by 1911. We have not found this 6th child.⁷
Patrick Cox died on 24 July 1915 at Cloonart North, Mohill, Co Longford, Ireland. He was survived by his widow Anne Beirne. The informant was his son Michael Cox.⁸
